Trevor King reads out a letter faxed by Larry from his hospital bed

21 June 1993  Assembly Buildings Belfast

“Dear Brothers and Sisters, I am sorry that I cannot be with you.  I was in Holland this last week to do a farewell tour and say goodbye to Holland and then in Ireland.  But on Saturday night I had an attack of ventricular arrhythmia and was taken in an ambulance to the hospital.  This morning I had another attack and it is certain that they will not let me leave the hospital to do a farewell concert in Ireland.  So I must say goodbye to you with this letter.

Thank you for all the years that you let me share with you.  Thank you for all the love I received from you.  I don’t know how much longer I will live, but then, none of us know this about our lives.  But we do know that Jesus is waiting for us at the end of the darkness and at the beginning of the light.

If there is someone here tonight who has not yet given their life to Jesus then please do not wait.  Open your mind and your heart now and receive him.

A person is not foolish to give up what they cannot keep - to gain what they cannot lose.

Goodbye and God bless all of you”
